Does having no Wealth Star in one’s Ba Zi mean having no money—or no wife?
Hello everyone! (๑╹◡╹)ノ” This marks your 59th meeting with Huoyun.
The “Wealth Star” is something everyone adores—after all, who doesn’t love money?
So, for this installment, we’ve arrived at the special “Wealth Star” episode of our “Ba Zi Experience” series.
As we all know, the Wealth Star—comprising both Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth—typically represents money, material possessions, one’s father, a sense of realism, and—for men—one’s wife within the standard Ba Zi framework.
First, let me once again clear up a common misconception!
In Bazi, “lacking a Wealth Star” does *not* mean that you will have no money, no romantic partner, or that you are destined to live a life of abject poverty!
So, let’s dive right in and discuss this in detail.
What is it *really* like to have no Wealth Star in one’s Bazi chart?

In the system of Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny), the Wealth Star represents that which “I conquer”—specifically, the material resources that you actively pursue, seek to control, and strive to acquire.
From a concrete perspective, the most straightforward manifestation of the Wealth Star is simply—money.
From an abstract perspective, however, the Wealth Star essentially embodies “your sensitivity toward money and your desire for it.”
Therefore, when a person’s Eight Characters (Bazi) chart lacks a Wealth Star—and is also devoid of other Ten Gods that might lend support to it—their attitude toward money is often simply, “As long as it’s enough, that’s fine”; or, at a fundamental level, they simply do not place much importance on money and material possessions.
Getting a raise is certainly something to be happy about, but I wouldn’t go so far as to work myself to death over it. The advantage of this “detached” mindset is that one is less susceptible to being held hostage by material desires, lives a more relaxed life, and rarely gets into conflicts with others over money.
However, the downsides are equally apparent: a lack of motivation to save money, a tendency to miss out on lucrative opportunities, and even the risk of being perceived as lacking ambition.
Because their *Bazi* (Four Pillars of Destiny) charts lack the tangible drive provided by the “Wealth Star”—and in the absence of other supportive *Ten Gods* to act as aids—they often display a certain insensitivity toward the pursuit of financial gain.
For instance, while others might immediately spring into action the moment they catch wind of a business opportunity, this individual might still be hesitating, wondering, “Wouldn’t that be too much of a hassle?”

So, how is this kind of personality cultivated?
For many people whose *Bazi* (Four Pillars of Destiny) charts lack a “Wealth Star,” their upbringing often shares a common thread: their parents rarely discussed money at home, or—throughout their childhood and adolescence—financial matters were never the primary source of stress.
In some cases, their parents shouldered the entire financial burden on their behalf, sparing them from ever experiencing the bitter taste of scarcity or the embarrassment of being short on funds.
In other instances, even if the family was not materially wealthy, the family members maintained a positive mindset, instilling the belief that “whether rich or poor, we celebrate the holidays just the same.”
Alternatively, the household environment itself might have been generally modest, characterized by a lifestyle philosophy of finding contentment in simplicity.
Over time, as a result of these influences, it becomes easy for such individuals to develop a mindset free of any deep-seated attachment or obsession regarding money.

In traditional numerology, the “Wealth Star” often signifies the magnitude of one’s financial potential and the intensity of one’s desire for wealth.
For individuals whose natal charts lack a Wealth Star—and who also lack the support of other “Ten Gods” to assist or protect their financial prospects—their experiences in the workplace and in earning money often unfold in the following manner:
First and foremost, you will not undertake tasks you dislike simply for the sake of money.
You find it nearly impossible to endure a high-paying job that causes you misery. Even if the financial compensation is substantial, if your heart feels compromised or aggrieved, you will walk away regardless. Consequently, many people may label you as “unrealistic.”
Secondly, your approach to earning money relies on “incidental gain” rather than “direct pursuit.”
Your income is rarely the result of a direct, single-minded pursuit of wealth; instead, it flows naturally as a byproduct of doing what you love and what you excel at. For instance, you might acquire a new skill, create a piece of work, or assist a friend—only to find that the other party insists on compensating you for your efforts.

From an emotional perspective, the Wealth Star in relationships represents: a sense of reality, a solid material foundation, and the ability to express and nurture love in a way that the other person prefers.
If there is no Wealth Star in one’s birth chart, and no supporting or protective Ten Gods, the biggest problem is:
Your love is detached from reality; you struggle to see things from the other person’s perspective, which easily causes them pain in the relationship.
Although you may have given a lot, you rarely receive a good return. It’s like someone who’s focused on studying literature instead of math, and then tries to write poetry and prose on top of math problems…

This is the point most prone to misunderstanding—so listen up, everyone!
The absence of a “Wealth Star” in one’s natal chart does *not* mean one will lack money! For men, specifically, it does *not* mean they will be without a wife!
The reason for this is twofold: On one hand, the Wealth Star will inevitably be activated and appear during the cycles of one’s “Major Luck” (Da Yun) and “Annual Luck” (Liu Nian). On the other hand—aside from the Wealth Star itself—other “Ten Gods” (Shi Shen) that serve to support or protect the Wealth Star can also signify financial fortune and romantic prospects; the “Eating God” and “Hurting Officer” (Shi Shang) are prime examples.
When the Wealth Star—or the Eating God and Hurting Officer—appears during these Major Luck or Annual Luck cycles, your sensitivity toward money will heighten, and opportunities to earn income will multiply. For men, this period often triggers a sudden desire to pursue romance or marriage, and suitable partners are more likely to appear in their immediate surroundings.

The *Shi* and *Shang* stars (Eating God and Hurting Officer) serve as the very source of the Wealth Star. Therefore, individuals whose natal charts lack a visible Wealth Star—yet possess strong *Shi* and *Shang* energies—are essentially “wealthy in waiting.”
Such individuals earn their living through technical skills, creativity, craftsmanship, and content creation. This profile is frequently found among freelancers, designers, programmers, writers, and artisans. Their wealth is not something they “chase after,” but rather something they “generate” from within.
As long as their *Shi* and *Shang* stars are not completely suppressed by the *Yin* stars (Resource Stars), they will certainly never lack money in this lifetime. Moreover, they often earn significantly more than the average office worker.
For men, the *Shi* and *Shang* stars also represent one’s ability to pursue romantic interests, their flair for romance, and their sense of humor.
A man with strong *Shi* and *Shang* energies—even if his chart lacks a visible Wealth Star (the “Wife Star”)—will possess charm, know how to have fun, and be full of talent; consequently, he will certainly never be short on girlfriends!
Alright, that wraps up this installment! Tomorrow, we’ll continue with our series: “What It’s Like to Have No *Bi-Jie* in Your *Bazi*.” Be sure to stay tuned for the updates!
